Fundraiser FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR FUNDRAISER

  1. When do you plan to open your brick-and-mortar building? - We plan to open our doors this 2022 holiday season (by summer 2023).

  2. What can I do to help? - Thank you for your willingness to help! You can donate to our GoFundMe page, share it with your circle, encourage members and companies in the community to donate money or in-kind goods (Ngoma y'Africa, our partnering nonprofit is a 501C-3 that can accept company donations for tax purposes).

  3. Are there Fundraising Events happening soon? - YES! We are holding a couple of Fundraising Events starting in November. They will take place in both Salt Lake and Utah counties at Black-owned establishments and/or supporting businesses in the community.

  4. What is the target Fundraising Amount? - To open our doors, we need to reach at least $45,000 to cover deposit and the first 2 months of our 12-month lease, a mural and artworks, a projector for film screenings/movie night, furniture costs, commercial kitchen use while we wait to build ours onsite, inventory, catering supplies and transportation, and for staff help for 2 months. Our goal is to raise $80,000+ within the next 3 months to help us sustain our business operations for at least 1 year as most brick-and-mortar businesses close after only their first year of opening due to lack of profits.

  5. How do I get my THANK YOU GIFT? - When you donate, be sure to write in the Notes your Full Name, your Company Name if applicable, your email address, your preferred social media handle, a mailing address where we can send you your certificate or card, and your phone number (optional).
